Dedication. Morocco has been named best offshoring destination for 2012 by the European Association of Offshoring (EOA). Morocco has outperformed five destinations pre-selected for this international award, namely South Africa, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Egypt.
The trophy of the EOA rewards the best performance of host countries of offshoring from Europe. "This trophy recognizes the major assets of the country in terms of maturity of the sector, direct benefits to businesses, quality of infrastructure and services, quality of companies operating there, as well as the country's global offshoring reputation " affirms Aberrafie Hanouf, CEO of MedZ Sourcing, the company in charge of the management of technopoles dedicated to offshoring activities in Morocco.
The positioning of the Kingdom in this market stems from the potential of the European market that weighs more than 30 billion euros with a 10-fold increase by 2020. "Today, the Moroccan offshore market is a mature market with 50,000 jobs created; 7 billion turnover achieved in 2011” said a confident Mr. Hanouf.
At the operational level, MedZ Sourcing, subsidiary of Medz, provides design and programming, promotion, marketing, management and coordination of areas dedicated to offshoring activities in Morocco.
The Kingdom has met the challenge of leadership in the European offshore market, thanks to its production costs and competitive rents. In fact, companies based in technological areas enjoy an effective income tax rate of 20%, a 0% of the corporate tax rate for the first 5 years and a reduction of 50 % thereafter. In addition to the competitive telecom costs, offshore companies benefit from specific training assistance that amounts to 5800 DH.
"Despite the dynamic development of offshore in Morocco, however it remains true that the country should review and strengthen its incentive package to preserve and consolidate its leadership in this market segment especially as competition is fierce" stressed Lakhlifi Mohamed, President of the Federation of ITC and Offshoring (Apebi) following a meeting in Rabat with members of the professional association.
Currently, MedZ Sourcing (Holding CDG Development) operates three parks, namely: Casanearshore Technopolis and FesShore hosting a hundred national and international businesses and employ nearly 20,000 people. To consolidate its position on niche offshore, Morocco inaugurated in June 2012 a third technological area: FesShore. This new link in the network of technology parks open in the city of Fes is dedicated to IT service activities, data processing and business processes. It is built on an area of 20 hectares and is expected to accommodate 130,000 m2 of offices and services. "The total investment is about one billion dirhams and job creation is estimated at more than 12,000," recalls the CEO of MedZ Sourcing.
It is worth noting that Morocco intends to retain its leadership in the European offshore market while setting a target to be one of the top ten worldwide within the next five 5 years.
