Overview of the region

Meknes-Tafilalet is known for its agricultural lands which are considered among the most fertile in the country. Meknes city is the administrative center of the region, and has been ranked as a UNESCO World Heritage since 1996.

Given its abundant water resources, the region of Meknes-Tafilalet is traditionally known as the "water tower" of the Kingdom. It is placed among the national regions which are suitable for investment, particularly in agriculture and food-processing industry.

Strengths of the region

Geographical Location

The region of Meknes-Tafilalet extends from the Southeast to the Northwest of the kingdom. It is bounded on the north by the region of Gharb-Chrarda-Beni Hssen, to the west by Chaouia-Ouardigha and Tadla-Azilal, on the east and northeast by the Oriental and Fez-Boulemane, and by Algeria from the south.

This privileged geographic location is the reason why the region is dubbed "hub of Morocco". Meknes-Tafilalet is also equipped with modern infrastructure enabling it to ensure a high level of trade, both within its provinces and prefectures and with the rest of Morocco or foreign countries.
Meknes-Tafilalet is located:

  • 2 and a half hours from Casablanca, the economic capital of the country.
  • Only 3 and a half hours from the Mediterranean Sea through Tangier.
  • 4 hours away from in the Oriental region.
